Introduction

Invermere is located on Windermere Lake, BC. It is the commerce hub of the Columbia Valley serving approximately 25,000 people between Golden and Cranbrook. Located in the Purcell Mountain range, this area is a recreation hotspot with summer and winter activities for the whole family.

Spring is early in the Columbia Valley encouraging outdoor sports like golf in the months of March and April. Summers are warm with temperatures often 30 degrees or more. Windermere Lake has excellent swimming facilities to help you cool off during the dry months of July and August. Autumn brings cooler temperatures and leaves changing colour to brilliant yellow, orange, and red. Winters are mild in comparison to the Alberta, with most of the valley sheilded from the cold, temperatures average 0 to -10c.

Local activities include the usual winter and summer sports like skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, and boating. The local airport is home to the non-profit Canadian Rockies Soaring Club for glider pilots who say this area is one of the best in the world for gliding. There are numerous hot springs in the area that invite visitors to bath in the hot mineral springs.

Each year, Invermere MusicFest puts on a two-day festival that attracts people from all over the region. If you like Canadian music and want to see new talent, you won’t want to miss this event.
